A cheese & cider tour for The Cheese Club members!
Join The Cheese Club on its first guided cheese tour of Northern Spain! A deep dive into what is known as “green Spain” situated between the coastline and the mountains with rolling green hills and lush scenery. Asturias is the lesser known Spanish region and is known as a natural paradise. Asturias is also home to over 40 Spanish cheeses, natural cheese caves (actual caves!) and the traditional Sidra, a Spanish style cider which is famous for its long pour. This rich culinary culture will be featured on our exploration into this regions cultural bounty. We will visit cheese producers, learn about their cheese production, history and place in the local gastronomy. We will visit natural cheese caves, a bucket list excursion for any cheese professional and cheese lover alike. We will also visit local Sidra producers and learn about Spanish cider production and its history in the local culinary landscape. Learn how to “throw” Sidra and “catch” Sidra like a pro! During the trip we will stay in establishments that will bring you closer to the nature and history of Asturias. The selected restaurants and bars where we will enjoy the local food, will allow you to live the experience as an Asturian. We will discover the slow-cooked cuisine of a Guisandera, we will enjoy a vermouth and a delicious meal paired with cider in a “merendero” so you will have the opportunity to taste the most iconic dishes of Asturian gastronomy, in small restaurants full of soul and tradition.
The tour will be led by Begoña Medio, a native Asturian, who is a consultant in gourmet product exportation and agro-tourism and a seasoned local tour guide. Her project Cider Tours Spain for cider professionals and current consultant position as export manager for Queseria Cultivo, qualify Begoña as the perfect host and guide for this tour. Begoña created this tour for The Cheese Club members and is the first European Ambassador member of The Cheese Club.

4 days, 3 nights $2700 per person (tax and vat included).
We will visit five cheese producers and two cideries. Meeting point in Gijon, Asturias.
A $500 non-refundable deposit per traveler is required to secure space on the trip. The balance is due 60 days prior to the start of the trip.
Group size: 5 travelers + guide
